Crackmasters Edmonton West end delivers meals for Meals on Wheels

Tuesday December 1, 2015 was GivingTuesday and Crackmasters Edmonton West end delivered food and donated flowers for Meals on Wheels.  We were asked by the great staff at Meals on Wheels if we would come down and deliver meals to their clients as part of GivingTuesday. We decided to give to our community and donate our time. The experience was rewarding and let us see the clients that we help.

Tuesday we closed up shop and went downtown to the Meals on Wheels main office.  The meals were ready and the staff gave us a great orientation.  The food was packaged in insulated packages and labeled for the client. We were given a list with their name and any special instruction, such as if they own a dog. Because we were new to the delivery routine Meals on Wheels also gave us a rather detailed map to show us where we needed to go. Our Meal delivery went well.

GivingTuesday is the kick off to the giving season and Meals on Wheels celebrates by getting local media and others in the community to help deliver to their clients. There were members of the Edmonton media and sports teams and we felt pretty special to be included. The Edmonton FC group looked like they had a fun time. I wanted to meet some of the local media but the Edmonton Eskimos were having their Grey Cup win celebration.

After delivering meals we had much to chat about. Meeting clients was a highlight and made us realize how important this service is to many in the Edmonton area. winter can make getting out more difficult and cooking for one is not easy so, knowing that Meals on Wheels clients are getting a balanced healthy meal made the Crackmasters staff feel better. Everytime we repair a windshield rock chip or a long windshield crack we know that we are helping and that makes us feel better.
